BuzzFeed App Trending Feed
As the lead designer on the app team at BuzzFeed, it has always been my goal to make the experience more interactive and enticing for our users. After conducting rounds of user testing to better understand our app's users, we learned that many of them come to the app daily to digest the trending articles. Because of this, I redesigned the trending feed to provide a more exciting experience and highlight actions that would increase content sharing.
Creating the Experience
We went through multiple iterations of this experience, meticulously testing and comparing each one with the original basic feed experience shown below. I developed prototypes featuring both horizontal and vertical scrolling, inspired by the current trends in social apps. My top priority was to ensure that comments, likes, and share buttons were prominently displayed. Ultimately, our users embraced the effortless vertical experience and regarded it as a contemporary and refined approach to consuming their content.
